About

A number of governmental, private and self-governing organizations have joined forces to make a special effort for professional artists and curators who are currently being displaced due to the war in Ukraine. The Danish partners, who work in various ways with AIR programs or associated areas in the Danish art environment, will seek to offer a professional framework in the form of residencies, workshop facilities and professional exchange with local artists.

The purpose of the initiative is that as many professional artists, curators and art critics as possible, who have been displaced due to war can have a professionally meaningful everyday life, a rewarding encounter with the Danish art scene and an opportunity to express themselves artistically through their professional work.

Due to the urgent situation, the aid we can offer is based on availability and is currently being adjusted according to the number of artists seeking residency / artistic contexts. The length of the stay will vary accordingly. So will the actual content of the offer in terms of residence facilities, workspace facilities and networking opportunities.

Note: The Displaced Artists Network programme is currently under development.

What you can apply for

  • A short term artist in residency stay somewhere in Denmark

  • Access to a studio or other workspace facilities

  • Access to facilities that can support your art practice within graphics, screen print, bronze casting, metal, wood, sound, animation, or other specialized field of art work

  • Financial support of materials or equipment needed to produce art

  • Networking and professional exchange opportunities with local artists, curators and art critics.

The program coordinates the efforts with the immigration authorities and will be directed to professional art workers who have been granted a residence permit in Denmark under the Special Act on displaced persons from Ukraine. It is thus the entry authorities and the immigration service that ensure basic economic and housing conditions for the refugees, while this program adds an artistic, professional content to the stay in Denmark.
